You can barely see the scaffolding in Tarzan's
Treehouse as the structural work continues.
Adventure, continued...
Meanwhile, let's hope WDI sticks with creating a permanent E Ticket out of
the rather sad Screamin' and they get the funding for their proposed Disney
Villains makeover for the Paradise Pier coaster. The rest of the boardwalk area
from the midway games (shown below) to the Maliboomer will go under the knife later this
summer as the cheap stucco look the park opened with is replaced with
traditional looking clapboard and gingerbread trim.

As for the rest of DCA's
placemaking and additions, work continues on finagling the financing from the
powers that be on that one. John Lasseter is rumored to now be a firm believer in DCA's
future, as long as he gets the money he wants for all of his new toys.

Before the rest of the new rides can come online at DCA by 2011, they've got
to get Midway Mania open and the massive new Wonderful World of Color show up
and running. While Steve Davison tinkers with the huge scale of the lagoon show, WDI has turned its attention to reworking the perimeter of the lagoon. We'd told
you earlier about the big warning flags TDA planners had been waving in regards
to crowd control and scarce room for thousands of viewers around the lagoon.

The plan now is to regrade and rebuild the northern edge of the lagoon from
roughly the Golden Dreams building to the Golden Zephyr. The Golden Zephyr is
slated to be salvaged as part of Paradise Pier's placemaking as its' about the
only small ride currently there that would fit in with the new 1920's feel for
the Pier.

There is a proposal to move the Zephyr (above, right) over to where the Orange
Stinger (above, left) currently sits to frame the boardwalk area of the Pier, while using the
current location of the Zephyr as more seating and an area for the World of
Color's show control booth.
Those decisions need to be made quickly, as the
clock is ticking down to January when the entire lagoon is to be drained to
begin infrastructure work for the giant new show.

there.
