THE CONTEST HAS ENDED:
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO ENTERED!
WINNERS WILL BE NOTIFIED BY E-MAIL.
You've read about the unique documentary Finding Kraftland here on
MiceAge in an article by Werner Weiss, and
probably also visited the official
website. A few of you have been able to see the movie at local film festivals,
met the starring father and son, Richard and Nicky Kraft, and posted about it on
our sister site MiceChat.
As word spread about this special project online it sparked all sorts of
great reviews and lots of inquiries as to where it could be seen. For our Los
Angeles area readers we now have an answer to those many requests and a
extraordinary opportunity for you.
With special thanks to Richard Kraft, MiceAge/MiceChat is pleased to
announce a unique contest, Find your way to Kraftland!

Nicky Kraft, Stacey Aswad and Richard Kraft
10 Los
Angeles area site readers will win a pair of tickets to a 9/30 5pm
Cinema City Film Festival screening of
Finding Kraftland at Universal Studios CityWalk Cinemas. These special
tickets will also admit holders to the VIP party afterwards where not only can
they meet and greet the film makers, but will also receive a special Finding
Kraftland "swag bag" full of promotional items for the film.
Not a local reader? Relax, we have something special for you too! 10
out-of-towners will be awarded Finding Kraftland "swag bags."
To enter you need to make a
MiceChat special
forum post via this link (in 250 words or less, and noting if you are,
or are not, a local) between 9/10 and 9/21
Midnight PST answering the following question:
"If you could collect
one piece of Disneyana, what would it be and why?"
Now how easy is that? Snappy repartee, witty banter and sparkling wordplay
will, of course, be duly noted and properly considered, but the sincerity of
what you post is what will really count.
Richard Kraft will personally select the 20 total winning posts from the
forum. The writers will be contacted via e-mail on Monday 9/24 with either
instructions for locals on how to will call their tickets at Universal, or a
request of non-locals for a "swag bag" mailing address. (Complete
contest rules are listed below.)

Background Information
For those of you who haven't discovered Finding Kraftland
yet, we have an excerpt below from the film's
website, along with this link to
the MiceAge interview by Yesterland's
Werner Weiss:
The off-beat documentary Finding Kraftland got its most unusual start
with a trip to Disney World. Mesmerized by a promotional video of its Top
Attractions endlessly looping in our hotel room, my son Nicky and I decided to
create a film espousing the virtues of our own obsessive lives.
Things took an unexpected twist when my own health and life issues came
barreling down on me. Yikes. Clearly drastic measures had to be taken.
Maniacally, I decided to get my life together and did the logical thing anyone
who had just undergone heart surgery would tackle… dragging my son, Nicky, on a
worldwide trek around the globe riding 425 roller coasters in over a dozen
counties researching the World's Greatest Roller Coaster.
Impulsively, we began cramming our home with thousands of vintage toys and board
games. Auctions were flooded with outrageous bids for as many pieces of
Disneyland as we could possibly snare. Ultimately, we decided to recreate my
childhood by transforming our home into "Kraftland," a shrine to Pop Culture
Kitsch.
Finally, for Nicky's Sweet 16th and my Sour 45th Birthday Party, I teamed up
with filmmaker Adam Shell in co-writing and co-directing Finding Kraftland,
the world's most overproduced home movie. Using the Disney World promo video as
our source of inspiration, we set out to produce a documentary that was somehow
both incredibly self-indulgent and self-serving yet somehow universal and
entertaining.
The end product was originally intended to have a one-time-only Birthday
screening. It took place at Paramount Pictures where 750 of our closest friends
viewed this incredibly shameless home movie. The reaction defied expectations.
Something about the film hit a nerve among guests of guests who didn't even know
us. The love story between father and son combined with our over-the-top zest
for life touched people in unexpected ways.
