The classic Disneyland trip report returns and time lapse videos from around the park highlight the beginning of a great MiceChat Round-Up this week. But we are just getting started. Monorail beams at the Walt Disney World resort suffered minor damage due to cold weather. Is this a maintenance related problem? You might just want to ask the guy in the fort on Tom Sawyer's Island. We then skip over to Disneyland Paris for talk of no more fireworks, we snag a look at new concept art for Shanghai and there is talk about Tom Hanks playing Walt Disney in an upcoming film. Join the discussion! ~ CakvalaSC

Did you celebrate yesterday with someone you love? Did you get any park time? If not, like most of us who live too far away, we have to make due with what's posted on MiceChat each week. This week we have some monorail damage, some new leaked plans for NextGen technology, and an expansion of Kilimanjaro Safaris, with the ultimate demise of Little Red, plus more! ~yoyoflamingo
Monorail beam damage
Due to recent cold weather, the monorail beam has suffered some minor damage. What does this all mean and is it a reflection of bad maintenance practices? Join the discussion here.
Kilimanjaro Safaris Expansion
Since the end of the poaching story, it seems Little Red is soon leaving for an expanded safari and more zebras. Perhaps the one time the loss of an Animatronic won't be as upsetting as what's replacing it?

No More Fireworks?
Here's a question posed by WDW1971: When Disneyland Paris starts performing Disney Dreams, will it replace the fireworks as nighttime entertainment?
Rare Disneyland Paris book set to return!
The rights to the book, which was once sold at Disneyland Paris, have gone to a new publishing company, and as Alain went through the details with them, they discovered that about 730 of the English “Collectors Edition” were never printed (due to printing expenses and other reasons at the time). I've offered to help finance the printing of the remainder of the allotment of the Collectors Edition if we meet a certain number of preorders (200 to 250 preordered books on my end).
If we are able to obtain 200 preorders (at the original printing price of the book), we'll have the books sent to print and deliver them to those who preorder. If we don't meet the preorder requirement by March 15, 2012, we'll cancel the print and refund all the money. If we are able to complete the printing, those who buy the book after preorders are over will pay the new 'higher' cover price (the book will go up an additional $40 after the preorder). So, it definitely pays to get in early and help us with the preorder requirement.
For those of you who aren't familiar with the collector's edition of Disneyland Paris, From Sketch To Reality, it is one of the most collectible Disney books ever printed. The collector's edition is printed on a luxury glossy paper and has gold printing on the cover and dust jacket, it was limited to 2000 copies in English ( and 2000 in french ), each copy has a number, AND each copy includes four beautiful “lithographs” of WDI artwork for the Walt Disney Studios. Each of these lithographs is suitable for framing. It's a big book with 320 pages and 750 pictures in it. We're pretty confident that we can achieve the required number of preorders and have the book printed and shipped this Spring.
10 years ago, the collector's edition was 100 euros (plus 15 for shipping, which is about $150). When the pre-orders are over and the book is back in regular stock, its price will increase to 130 euros plus 15 euro shipping (about $190), which means that pre-ordering the book will help you save a substantial amount and does a good deed at the same time.
The book is expected to be released late March or April 2012, as we hope to have the collector's edition released in time for Disneyland Paris' 20th Anniversary.

2/13: Disney's Big Thunder refurb, Fantasyland, Universal Mardi Gras, Drive in Golf to open
We have a big, thunderous update for you this week. A lot is happening over Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom in preparation for a vastly expanded Fantasyland and hopefully expanded summer attendance as well. Universal has premiered its new Blue Man Group show and Mardi Gras celebration and continues construction on a Despicable Me ride as well as the upcoming Cinematic Spectacular Lagoon Show. Finally, we swim over to SeaWorld and check on the construction of their big budget new land. It's all here in the Orlando Parkhopper.
2/13: Dateline Disneyland - Mardi Gras and Cozy Cones New Orleans Square is decked out in its celebratory finest as it kicks off its multi-weekend Mardi Gras celebration. The New Orleans Bayou Bash! events bring an array of live entertainment and special food items to New Orleans Square. Meanwhile, work continues on the Main Street U.S.A. dining expansion projects as well as the major Matterhorn Bobsleds refurbishment. Over at Disney California Adventure, the new neon Cozy Cone Motel marquee has arrived in Cars Land and construction on the park's new Buena Vista Street area continues as it moves closer to its June opening. In Downtown Disney, Earl of Sandwich will open this summer after the Compass Books and Cafe closes at the end of March. Meanwhile, Downtown Disney has a variety of special events scheduled for a fun Valentine's Day outing. Lots of photos, videos and news to see in Dateline Disneyland!
2/12: Rediscovering Disney World's Abandoned Discovery Island Most every Disney fan knows all about Disney World's Animal Kingdom park, where you can board a truck and get up close to the animals. But, until that park opened, guests could take a different sort of animal themed journey to an island filled with tropical birds, alligators and monkeys. Join us as we take a look at the interesting history of Walt Disney World's Discovery Island!
2/11: Manning, Magic and Mansion We have a fun column for you this weekend. After his Super Bowl win, Eli Manning visited the Magic Kingdom and we've got some amazing shots to share. In the spirit of Valentines Day, we next take you on a romantic night at the concierge level of Disney's Beach Club resort. We think you'll find that it certainly qualifies as a deluxe Disney experience. Then we're off to Six Flags Over Georgia for a little coaster fun. And we wrap things up with the ever popular vintage postcards from Disneyland - this time around they've got a Haunted mansion theme.
2/9: Pressing Matters - Sue's subject matter is substantial and varied and includes everything from a video you may have seen to a Bond house. Here are our topics: It Gets Better, Elrod, Clifton's, Vantastix, Books and Cinema Fantastique.
2/9: Knott's Looks For Love, DCA and Disneyland Under Wraps, Cars Preview and More
Hey howdy hey everyone! Welcome back to In The Parks, your weekly Southern California theme park update. We've got a lot to share with you this week from Disney to Universal and all points in between. Knott's Berry farm is undergoing some major maintenance and is really getting better every day. Disneyland is setting the stage for love and Disney California is getting ready for its close up. We'll also show you Muzeo's newest exhibit, The Word: Ink and Blood. All this plus a new video from Sea World San Diego about Manta and a tip that might just get you on TV!
2/9: Werner Weiss - Yesterland's Burger Invasion California Adventure is the theme park about California, located in California. And what could be more Californian than feasting on a genuine McDonald's Big Mac or Double Cheeseburger? After all, Maurice ("Mac") and Richard ("Dick") McDonald opened the first McDonald's Speedee Service System restaurant in 1948 in San Bernardino, California. The park's website promises an out-of-this-world selection of burgers, fries and drinks. Out-of-this-world, perhaps but not out-of-the ordinary.
2/8: Mineral King: The Rest Of The Story We continue on our trek to the Mineral King Resort, Walt Disney's final project. You have heard some of the story, now hear it from the people whom were actually there. Diane Disney Miller, Ron Miller and David Price all chime in and share their personal accounts. Plus, we want to know what you think about this project which almost was.
