Will there be a special event for the opening of Cars Land? Is Tomorrowland finally going to get the refurbishment it deserves? Where is your favorite place to relax at Disneyland? All of this and more are featured in today's MiceChat Round-Up, your one stop for Disney (as well as others) theme park news and information. Do you plan to visit Universal Studios this Summer? We have advice for you. Plan to visit the Walt Disney Family Museum? Brad Bird will be there in May. What's a Gumball Rally? Well, it's the biggest, best and the most exciting Disney fan event in the known universe that anyone can play and win. The Rally is a race to find out who can ride the most attractions at Disneyland in a single day. Sounds great, right? Well, it is even more fun than you can imagine.
Yes, it is harder than it sounds. Yes, it will challenge you physically. But, it's one event that folks of any age can compete in and have a great time in the process. Whether you win or lose, you are always a winner when the race takes place on your favorite rides at your favorite place on earth.

Today's Editor's Note bears repeating, in case you missed it on the way to this page:
4/11: The Intolerance elephants and the Taste Pilots Grill plane were removed yesterday. The elephants were long planned for removal, but the plane rehab was a late request from John Lasseter who gave Bob Iger a list of things to approve during Iger's latest Anaheim visit last month. Not wanting to let Lasseter have all the glory, Iger demanded that the big oak tree in front of the Practical Cafe be moved over 15 feet, at considerable expense. Lasseter returns this Friday to check on his list of fixes for DCA, and the revolving Condor Flats marquee is now in his gunsights to be rethemed. After spending 1.2 Billion to fix DCA, these last 60 days of construction will be a whirlwind of extra free money from the Burbank brass. Anaheim hasn't had it this good since Walt was here! - Al

Other bands Disney could look into for an animated feature
After too many late nights of watching Lilo and Stitch, Rocker has an interesting idea. Disney used Elvis Presley's music in that animation so why not look into other big and popular bands for future movies. Some ideas include using The Beatles, The Who, The Beach Boys, or the Foo Fighters. So what are your thoughts?

4/9: Red Car wires & Matterhorn makeovers Spring break crowds will begin to wind down this week as Disney enters the final stretch before its big 2012 summer season that will mark the grand re-opening of Disney California Adventure park. California Adventure's big 2012 re-launch will include the debut of the new Buena Vista Street entrance plaza as well as the grand opening of the massive new 12-acre Cars Land area. This summer will also launch new, expanded and refreshed offerings throughout Disneyland and Downtown Disney, making this summer one of the busiest summers in Disneyland history. There's still plenty of work to be done, however, and Imagineers are hard at work testing new attractions in Cars Land and installing new Red Car Trolley wires throughout Buena Vista Street. Meanwhile, in Disneyland, the Matterhorn's fantastic new paint job is nearing completion as work inside the mountain continues. We've got all the latest news and photos for you today in Dateline Disneyland!
4/8: The Continuing Saga of the Bob-A-Round and Bob-A-Long Boats When Bob Gurr was assigned to revise the design of the Bob-A-Round Boats that were pulled from service in1973, he thought it might be a simple redesign. But as many an imagineer finds out, their creations can sometimes behave in ways never anticipated. Gurr tells the story of how he was assigned the project. There was a full redesign, hence the dropping of the word "Round" in the new incarnation. The new watercraft was a lovely vessel that could even accommodate a aquatic picnic. But despite all of the new bells and whistles, it never made it past the testing phase. Read the story directly from Gurr here.
4/7: Muppet Vision 3-D: They’re Tourists. What do They Know? The Muppet-Vision 3D attraction had a long and winding road to completion. In-fact, with the passing of Jim Henson, the film almost didn't happen. Learn how this visitor favorite finally made its way to the Disney/MGM Studios in 1991 and what it took to get there. We also learn about who stepped in to direct the re-shot scenes that helped fill in the gaps to create the memorable moments.

4/6: Disneyland’s Matterhorn, DCA Buena Vista and Cars, SeaWorld Manta and Bubblefest
It's no surprise that Disneyland and Disney California Adventure are busy places during Spring Break, but today's update also finds Knott's Berry Farm, SeaWorld and the Discovery Science Center all packed with crowds as well. We'll start off with coverage of the many projects at the Disneyland resort. Then we'll show you what's new at Knott's Berry Farm and let you know what the opening dates are for SeaWorld's fancy new family coaster, Manta. Finally, we'll pop into Bubblefest at the Discovery Science Center. You'll want to read all the way through, because we are giving away tickets for this popular bubble show in today's update.
4/5: Sue Kruse – Pressing Matters Sue finds cool things and fun events you may have missed
4/5: Saving Walt Disney’s Laugh-O-gram Studio Building It was 1922 when 20-year-old artist and entrepreneur Walt Disney incorporated his own cartoon studio, Laugh-O-gram Films, and left his job at the Kansas City Film Ad Company. Using money from investors, Walt rented an office suite on the second floor of the then-new building at 1127 E. 31st Street in Kansas City. Walt and his young crew made inventive cartoons, including several fairy tales such asCinderella and his first Alice comedy. Today an organization is attempting to restore that same building to its original glory and preserve the location of the beginning of Walt's career in show business.
4/4: Education in Magic at the Magic Kingdom Sam offers a very unique tour of the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World this week. Many simply breeze past the carefully planned entry, up Main Street, though the hub and off to their favorite attraction. But Sam explains to us why things are the way they are. Why is there a lake in front of the Magic Kingdom? Why do we go through a tunnel to enter the park? Why do we walk up Main Street? All is revealed. Then we study the architecture on display in Liberty Square and beyond. Join us for the first of a two part article series.
