The unveiling of these key features gave guests a big sneak peek at the new Buena Vista Street area, which officially opens June 15. Meanwhile in Hollywood Land, the new Mad T Party nighttime event soft-opened, giving enthusiastic Memorial Weekend crowds their first taste of the new Alice In Wonderland-themed dance party. In Cars Land, finishing touches continue to be lavished on the new 12-acre land as the nearby Ghirardelli Chocolate Company and Soda Fountain nears its grand opening. 5/27: The Best Food you Never Ate – Fictional Food of the Magic Kingdom It's something you have seen on each visit but never really grew a taste for. Hidden in the details of many of the lands at the Magic Kingdom are references to food, or food packaging. Hercules Oats, King Carrots, Muskrat Moonshine, they are all there in plain sight. But they are enhancements to the land, rater than things you can actually eat. Join George Taylor as he observes some of the finer details in set dressing from around the park. You will see things you never knew you never knew.
5/26: Monkey Madness – Part 2 of a Safari to South Africa with Adventures by Disney Teresa Cory brings us another spectacular installment of her once in a lifetime Safari to South Africa with Adventures By Disney. This week we detail some pretty amazing meals. Visit a park called Monkeyland where the little simians roam free. We'll also see the Birds of Eden, the beautiful Bramon wineries, take a hike to the beach and visit elephants at Knysna Elephant park. There are plenty of surprises in store in this chapter of the Safari to South Africa.
5/25: New Paris digs for Mickey Mouse; Aulani Resort evolves; Civil War pilgrimage; more Weekend update is here to share photos from the annual Star Wars Weekends at Disney Hollywood Studios, and the grand opening of Legoland Florida's new water park. There is also an update from Disneyland Paris. Mickey Mouse is now meeting and greeting guests in the former Fantasyland Festival Stage area. Affordable food options seem to be on Disney's mind at their Aulani Hawaiian Resort as we have a report on the changes that can be seen around this resort in paradise. Scarlett Stahl continues her family pilgrimage with a trip to Appomattox Manor, Petersburg National Battlefield, and Blandford Church. Finally, Rya86n finishes up his dream trip on the Disney Dream at Christmas time. It's all here for you in the Weekend Update
5/25: Fantasyland Growing, Refurbs Wrapping Up, Star Wars Weekends, and MORE!! Hello, and welcome to Dateline DisneyWorld! This week, we will take a look at the ever changing landscape of the New Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom, introduce to you a brand new Photo eBook of this year's Flower and Garden Festival, and take a look at the first Star Wars Weekend that happened a week ago at Disney's Hollywood Studios! 5/25: SeaWorld’s Manta & Universal’s Transformers Open, Plus HUGE Disney Price Increase What an amazing week for Southern California theme park enthusiasts! On Thursday, two theme parks opened two major attractions. Universal finally officially opened Transformers the Ride 3D, and SeaWorld San Diego opened Manta. How do they measure up? Were they worth the wait? We'll let you know. We also check up on Disneyland's preparations for summer and follow the last remaining weeks of Cars Land and Buena Vista Street Construction (hint, construction walls are coming down). Finally, with the recent price increases at the Disneyland resort, we thought it would be wise to review all of the pricing for the major theme parks and bring you a breakdown of the best values. You'll be surprised just what you could do in the theme park world for the cost of a single Disneyland Premium Annual Pass. Ready for a whopping week of fun? Let's get to it!
5/25: Who Wants to Be a Millionaire – Play It! California Adventure is the theme park that celebrates the Golden State of California. Who Wants to Be a Millionaire – Play It! is based on a TV quiz show that’s taped in New York City, starring New York-born Regis Philbin, and broadcast by the New York-based American Broadcasting Company (ABC). But there is a California connection: ABC is owned by The Walt Disney Company, which has its corporate headquarters in Burbank, California. See? This attraction celebrates California!
5/23: Disney Off the Beaten Path
So you have done Space Mountain and lived to tell the painful tale. You bounded over the falls at Splash Mountain and had fun doing it. Not to mention the fact that you have a stack of unused fast passes for Peter Pan's Flight, Big Thunder Mountain and Winnie the Pooh. But if you are sick of fighting the endless crowds and lines that come with the more popular activities, then we have a treat for you. Why not explore one of these many alternative experiences in and around the Walt Disney World Resort? There are campfires at Fort Wilderness, Caverns on Tom Sawyers Island, and canoeing just to name a few. Read on, there are some great ideas here.
5/23: Samland talks to Billy Hill and the Hillbillies The magic that Disney delivers is comes in many forms. None has more impact than the interaction of live performers with their audience. Billy Hill and the Hillbillies have been performing in Disneyland's Golden Horseshoe since 1994 and have grown a very loyal following. What makes this classic Disneyland act tick? Sam talks to Kirk Wall, of the Hillbillies, about the more than 39,000 shows they have performed there and where they are headed from here.
5/22: From the Wilds of the Jungle to Adventures in Space with Aaron! This week, we talk to Aaron. He started his Disney career at Walt Disney World, exploring the rivers of the world on the Jungle Cruise, before winding up in the final frontier on Space Mountain.
