Bob Gurr Book Signing Luncheon - June 30th
(Pick up a copy of the book and meet the legend himself)

If you live in the Southern California area, you won't want to miss out on the Bob Gurr Book Signing Luncheon at the beautiful Anabella Hotel on June 30th: tickets and books available HERE.

The first 100 books sold for this event will be the red "Collectors" edition (which are pretty much sold out). Since all books will be picked up at the event, no shipping will be charged. That's Disney legend Bob Gurr + New book + Lunch + Plus great stories = Disney Nirvana (or should I say NERDvana).

To preserve an intimate feeling, this event will have very limited availability. Get your copy of the book, meet Bob Gurr and enjoy a delightful lunch at the Anabella Hotel's Tangerine Restaurant on June 30th, 2012 - TICKETS HERE.

6/5: Blastaway Beach opens at Wet n’ Wild, Busch Gardens Summer Nights and more
It's a deluge of fun this week as Wet N' Wild opens a brand new play area for Kids and adults. The Blast Away Beach is the park's newest addition and we were there for the opening. But that isn't all. We have a variety of activities happening in Central Florida this week that will be big on fun and easy on the budget. And there's one last hoopla in us as Star Wars weekends comes to a close at Disney Hollywood Studios. C'mon gang, let's park hop!

6/4:
Chocolate, Parades and Finishing Touches
With less than two weeks until the grand reopening of Disney California Adventure, final details are being added throughout the park at a fever pitch as it reaches the end of its major five-year expansion and remodeling efforts. On the Pacific Wharf, the new Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shopsoft-opened, giving an early taste of the delicious ice cream sundaes and chocolates the shop will offer when it officially opens at the end of this week. In Disneyland, the Carnation Cafe's outdoor dining patio continues to take shape behind walls as that restaurant and the Matterhorn Bobsleds near the end of their major refurbishment projects.

6/3: The EPCOT Center 25th Anniversary Gallery and Museum, Part One
Since Disney discovered that creating 18-month long celebrations tended to drive in the guests at Walt Disney World, they embarked on a series of celebrations (Year of a Million Dreams, 100 Years of Magic, Remember the Magic, Where Magic Lives, etc.) that seemed to follow each other relentlessly. In 2007, a group of fans decided to create their own celebration for Epcot's 25th Anniversary when it was learned that Disney was not going to officially celebrate it. After seeing the momentum that Celebration 25 was gaining, Disney stepped in with some official activities for October 1, 2007 and an EPCOT Center25th Anniversary Gallery. Visit the EPCOT Center 25th Anniversary Gallery and Museum. It may not be an 18 month celebration, but it's something.

6/2: The Dark Side Of Disney
No this isn't a tell all story from Cast Members. This is the review of a brilliant book that takes a different look at enjoining Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom. The Dark Side Of Disney is NOT your typical travel guide. In fact, I would dare say it’s not even for the faint of heart. While most guides point you in the right direction for great dining deals, fantastic tips for the Parks, and general Disney knowledge, this one leads you straight off the beaten path & into forbidden territory. Read on, if you dare!

6/1: John Carter, the Blu-ray Experience
John Carter was one of the biggest box office black eyes that the Company has seen in a long time. Blame was pointed everywhere, from Marketing to famed animation director Andrew Stanton. But is this a movie you should avoid or one you should embrace now that it is available on Blu-ray? George Taylor sits down and reviews the Blu-ray release of this troubled, infamous film. Was it really as bad as everyone said? See what George says here

6/1: Disney Mountains Rise in Hong Kong; Animation Luminaries Gather in Beverly Hills
Everyone knows about the Disney mountains that are rising in Disney California Adventure, but did you know that Disney mountains are also rising in Hong Kong Disneyland? Alain Littaye of the Disney and more blog [1] gives us a comprehensive look at the new Grizzly Trail area at Mickey's home in Hong Kong. Scarlett Stahl spent a luxurious evening rubbing shoulders with the royalty of the animation business at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science's 18th Marc Davis Celebration of Animation. Such Disney luminaries as Alice Davis, John Lasseter and Richard Sherman were in attendance.

6/1: Fantasyland Getting Lush, Farewell to a Classic, Lots of Epcot news, and MORE!!!
Welcome to Dateline Disney World! This week, we saw more movement on the New Fantasyland project, Big Thunder Mountain reopening, and lots of little things going on at the Magic Kingdom. We also saw the closing of a classic dark ride. Over at Epcot, there are lots of little things to report on as well. We've got around 100 photos to get to this week, so let's get started!

6/1: New WESTERN Music at Knott’s, DCA Nears Relaunch, Six Flags Readies Doom Drop
Are you all ready for the biggest theme park summer in years? The madness is upon us and the fun has already begun. Manta at SeaWorld and Transformers and Universal have already opened, and the upcoming re-launch of Disney California Adventure and Disneyland's Matterhorn are just a couple of weeks away. And that's not all, Six Flags Magic Mountain's Drop of Doom and SoCal area water parks are all gearing up for a big summer. But there's one item this week which has us dancing a happy tune... for that, we need to take you with us to Knott's Berry Farm...

6/1: C A L I F O R N I A, 11-foot-tall letters welcome you to Yester California Adventure
The letters are the first layer of the California postcard entrance to the park. The second layer is the world’s largest ceramic mural , which forms the mountainous backdrop. Next is the Golden Gate Bridge, connecting the two set of mountains. If you’re standing in the right place, the final layer is the golden sun of Sunshine Plaza

5/30: Is The Disney Dining Plan Worth It?
If you read MiceChat, you probably already have a good handle on how the Disney Dining Plan works, but what you might not know is whether or not it’s a good deal for you. Chris Wood goes through the ins and outs of the Disney Dining plan and examines what a vacationer should consider before opting in. On the one hand, you simply will not go hungry, on the other hand everything is planned out. It's good because everything is planned, it's bad because what you don't use, you lose. Read on to get a better insight into this daunting subject. Is the dining plan worth it for you?

5/30:
A Story With Bite – Remembering the California Alligator Farm
Sam is joined by historian, Richard Harris, this week as they examine the history of the California Alligator Farm. You may not know it, but this slithery story began in Arkansas of all places in 1906. Later on the exhibit was moved to Los Angeles California, before finally settling in Buena Park California, near Knott's Berry Farm. This colorful history is a surprising story of the good and bad fortune of this California icon.

5/29: Laugh With Mike From Monsters Inc Laugh Floor
Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor opened in April 2007 as a comedy club, where folks from the human world could go to help power Monstropolis through the power of their laughter. The show is interactive, having some of the monster comics converse with people in the audience, adding a layer of realism to the show. This week, we're lucky to have with us the ironically named Mike (no relation to Wazowski!), who formerly provided some of the live voices for the show.
